MAN UP & PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD

Still think your ballet slippers are the perfect pair of flats? Think again. For spring 2010 we’re putting away our dancing shoes for the super trendy Brogues also known as oxford shoes. Brogues are a quintessential piece in mens’ shoe closets but they aren’t just for men. Women are embracing this menswear classic, pairing them with anything from cuffed jeans, to skirts  and dresses. They are comfortable and will add a touch of masculinity to your style giving you a vintage look thats adds character. Celebrity fashionistas Sienna Miller (pictured top left) and RiRi (pictured top right) have been photographed sporting this look. I personally adore these classics.

FLAT OUT FABULOUS

A Spring 2010 shoe trend that flatters all:  Flats don’t go out of style, but they evolve with the times, and this Spring get ready for fabulously chic flat sandals with broad strap buckles, ankle straps and futuristic metallics.  A true stylisa should have a couple of pairs of fabulous flats in her shoe collection. Below are a  few of my picks from Topshop and ASOS.

PEEK-A-BOO

Femininity is one of the main assets of the cutout fashion trend for this season. The skin flashing sections of the attires are placed on delicate spots of the body in order to offer an outstanding and at the same time flattering look. This trend can be seen on all fashionable items, from dresses to shirts to pants to leggings and even shoes. More for the edgy fashionista, this trend has been sported on runways across the globe and most recently for spring/summer 2010.  Pictured below is fashion icon RiRi in her Peek-A-Boo dress.

Leather For Warmer Weather

Leather jackets have always been a wardrobe staple and are a timeless trend but this season the leather look has extended itself far beyond the jacket. Leather accents, from shorts to dresses, were scattered throughout the runway shows. For this spring season, the leather trend isn’t strict and is all about accents, meaning you can incorporate the look into your closet via virtually any form of clothing.  Whether you prefer to take your style cues from the runway, the stars or the streets, look around for leather accents this season as they are set to be big. Pictured below is Angie a true stylista!

FRILLS & RUFFLES

Frills and Ruffles have made a big comeback on the fashion radar this year. Many designers including Valentino, Marc Jacobs , Givenchy and Dolce & Gabbana have embraced this 80’s inspired style and revived it for the spring/summer 2010. Ruffles are really a universal thing to wear whether you consider yourself girly or not. However, due to the ruffle’s tendency to flare outwards, you should be careful when wearing this trend as it can sometimes make you look bigger than you are. However for busty girls, the ruffle can actually work in your favor. This detailing works to conceal and minimize the bust line. Pictured below is my girl Trina working this trend out ;-D

SPRING/SUMMER STATEMENT SHOES

Handbags are no longer the focal point of a look – This season is all about the SHOES! Statement shoes for spring/summer are sky high & include cut-outs, bright colors, feathers, fringes & ruffles. Embellishments are bolder, heels are higher & platforms are chunkier. This season, die-hard fashionistas are in danger of doing serious damage to their ankles, all in the name of fashion. Below are a few of my picks from my favorite online shop ASOS.

HOT PANTS

With winter finally over, the time to hit the gym has come. Hemlines have crept up to shorter than short; in fact reaching the negative. Hot pants, boy shorts, and tap pants are all variations on this shorter-than-short style, which in many cases reveal more than just one’s legs. (Pictured below) is my cuz rocking her hot pants reaching the negative…haha!
