ONE-SHOULDER TREND

One-shoulder is definitely better than two this season! According to Moriamo Oshodi, Womenswear Head Buyer at Asos.com, the look’s “funky-meets-classic edge, translates for seasons to come.” Runways were awash with sassy styles, from Versace’s many bold, colorful pieces in everything from leopard print to huge shoulder bows, to Alexander McQueen’s short sharp shapes. Balmain, Balenciaga, Issa, Ungaro, Sophia Kokosalaki and Calvin Klein also embraced the trend. Shout out to my fashionistas below for rocking this trend proper.

EMBELLISH ME

Pretty isn’t only back for print it is also a key player when it comes to decoration. You will find many dresses for summer 2010 that have embellishment in a feature area, or all over the dress. Think sequins, beading, rosettes, bows, lace and Swarovski’s. Shout out to my cuz Mika..Love your sequins dresses girl 🙂

LOUNGING ON THE PATIO

This is a super cute outfit for a nice summer day on the patio. The shorts are from American Eagle paired with a Steven Alan Heddy Shirt and these killer MAJE suede cutout wedges. TREND ALERT: SOCKS & HEELS

Have you tried socks with heels yet? I’m starting to admire this look as I see more & more from fashion spreads and runway shows. Apparently wearing shoes preferably heels with sock is the new trend . We first saw this trend on the runways last year when designers sent down their models decked out in fabulous shoes paired up with socks. It seems like just a matter of time before fashionistas start warming up to this trend. Will I be trying it? you bet I will ( I am good at trying new trends). Would you try it? Well If you gonna do it here a few things to keep in mind; Go for neutral tone similar to your shoes (pictured right). Thin fabrics work better, try sheer or opaque (pictured left). Avoid..anything too girlie (ruffles). They look great when teamed up with sandal heels.

Well the onesie is definitely our ultimate recession must-have. A two-in-one twist on the traditional tank, the bodysuit continues making its way back on the scene as a sexy alternative to everything from lingerie to loungewear to a body-skimming blouse. We’re actually partial to wearing one off the beach, under some high-waisted jeans or with a pretty bubble skirt. Part top, part tease, the one-piece bodies are the total package!

THE STRAW FEDORA

With summer just around the corner, ladies it’s time to get your hat game on point. Summer hats are both practical and stylish. We often see models and socialites flaunting new range of summer hats in parties however with the hat trends changing every year the one hat which is the undisputed leader are the straw fedoras. (My personal fav!) This Hat can be worn with everything from destroyed denim & a tank to a ruffled bikini. Shout out to my girl Adee (pictured above) & Desire for being true stylistas. Pictured below (from left to right) is Beyonce, Eva L & RiRi rocking this trend. It is a summer accessory that a true fashionista must have ;-D

FRILLS & RUFFLES

Frills and Ruffles have made a big comeback on the fashion radar this year. Many designers including Valentino, Marc Jacobs , Givenchy and Dolce & Gabbana have embraced this 80’s inspired style and revived it for the spring/summer 2010. Ruffles are really a universal thing to wear whether you consider yourself girly or not. However, due to the ruffle’s tendency to flare outwards, you should be careful when wearing this trend as it can sometimes make you look bigger than you are. However for busty girls, the ruffle can actually work in your favor. This detailing works to conceal and minimize the bust line. Pictured below is my girl Trina working this trend out ;-D

MESSENGER BAGS – A Fashion Revolution

It’s high time you throw out your bagpacks, plastic bags and whatever else you carry around your personal belongings in and invest in a messenger bag. This trend continues to loiter and it is both a functional and stylish alternative for carrying around your most important things. Messenger bags come in a variety of different styles from totes to briefcases just depending on your personal style. Shout out to my boys Sekou (pictured top left) and John (pictured top right) for always being a step ahead. Luv your swagger!

RED BOTTOMS FOR HIM

These bad boys are surely not for your everyday jaunt to the office. French Luxury shoemaker Christian Louboutin usually makes the type of shoes that the girls from Sex In The City would clamor over. Recently, the designer has debuted some pretty flashy loafers, like the ones Kanye was rocking in Paris (pictured left).

Now we get a look at the Freddy Flats lace-up shoes, (pictured top right) which feature a patent leather upper, and studs on the toe box and heel. Sizzling Hot…I’m officially drooling.. .. and have no fear Ladies because these bad boys are unisex. A true fashionista would rock the “freddy” flats with a pair of ankle grazers patched jeans and a white tank…some designer sunglasses and an oversized leather handbag. I’ve seen the women’s version retailing for £630 (might have to treat myself) and the men’s for £950 at their mount street store in london. Not sure why the big price difference.
